Decoration of a country Estate Shoot Room
The brief was to transform a dark and gloomy Library in a large Georgian country house into a welcoming Drawing Room for use by the estate’s shooting parties. An autumnal palette inspired the scheme and Amanda was given artistic license to select period antiques and artworks. A 17th century Aubusson tapestry effectively fills one wall, adding a lovely textural quality, its vista opening up a window on an Arcadian landscape. The countryside theme is enriched by the inclusion of 18th century hand-coloured bird engravings by naturalist George Edwards on the opposite wall. The room has become a convivial and practical space for guests seeking the English Country House experience. A very large pair of beautiful silk double-faced curtains were hung in the entrance hall to create a screen when required.
Amanda would be delighted to discuss interior projects in which her knowledge and skills in this specialised area of architectural interior design can be effectively employed.
